How Much Gravel Can I Get?

We have no minimum required on this product for delivery. You can get quoted for 1 yard and on up to a hundred yards though the more you get the better the pricing will be. We can haul up to 12 yards in one load in our bigger trucks. If weight of the larger trucks are a concern or access to property to small for the bigger trucks we have a 6 yard truck that can be used. The 6 yard truck can be used to haul multiple loads but you will not get the same price as if hauling with the bigger trucks.

We Can Install Your Rock Product Too!!

Need the gravel put in place? We install walk ways, driveways and even drainage systems of all type. In most cases our trucks can spread the gravel for you free of charge on your driveway, as long as you don't have overhead wires and tree limbs that would interfere. Want to do it yourself? That's ok. You can still have it delivered and at a great price. We have carefully selected only the best sources for gravel so that we are sure you will get the best. Why? How Much Gravel Do I Need?

One yard of 5/8th crushed rock or any fine crushed product will cover 108 square feet 3 inches in depth.

Is the gravel for your walkways or driveways? Most common type of gravel used for walkways and driveways would be the 5/8th minus crushed rock. Crushed rock works really good because it is broken fractured pieces ranging from big to small pieces that will bind together to form a compacted medium to walk or drive on. If you want a crushed 5/8th minus rock with less fines because you dont like all the finer dirt like particles that common in the crushed rock blends then look at our Home Owners 5/8th minus. I has less of the fine but still enough to give you compaction to bind the gravel together. For more information on crushed rock read through our list for crushed rock down below.

Gravel For Drainage Issues?

The washed round rock is the best answer for that but we also offer some crushed drain rock as well such as type 22 or 5/8^th Clean. The 5/8^th clean rock is typically used when backfilling drain rock under foundation drain system or down spout tight lines. Most common type of drain rock used in landscape French drains is the 1 ½ inch washed round. Go to our page for drain rock for better discriptions of size and color.

5/8th Minus Crushed Rock Standard. Sometimes called 3/4 Inch Minus:

This rock is just under an inch in size and smaller and has fracture broken edges. If the rock source for this product is from glacial till, which is rounded rock, then you will get a lot of different rock types and colors which will give it an overall appearance of light to light dark gray. The crushed glacial till is by far the most common 5/8th crushed rock that is sold for pathways and driveways. A lot of our competitors sell a cheaper version of this that has a lot of sand and dirt in it. While a true 5/8th has the smaller particles in it there should not be an over abundance of sand and dirt. The sand and dirt will allow for quicker growth of weeds. The 5/8th that we sell has the fines (or binders) that is necessary for the rock to compact, but it is mostly pulverized rock particles that you will find in it that make up the fines. If you want a 5/8th crushed rock that does not have a lot of fines then you might want to consider our home owners 5/8th as it has less fines (read up on it farther below). Or you may also consider our 5/8th crushed clean that has no fines in it at all but is made up of 5/8th on down to about 1/4 inch pieces of fractured rock. We also offer the 5/8th in dark gray that is made up of blasted basalt rock (see it listed farther below).

Home Owners 5/8th Minus Crushed Rock.

Like the 5/8th Minsu Standard, this rock is just under an inch in size and smaller and has fracture broken edges except there are a lot more of the bigger pieces. It is not a 5/8th Chip Rock or 5/8th Clear because it does have some fines in it. It would not be idea for using as a base for a concrete pour but it is great for those driveways and walkways that have lost all the larger rock on top and needs refreshing. The rock source for this product is from glacial till, which is rounded rock, so you will get a lot of different rock types and colors which will give it an overall appearance of light to light dark gray. The crushed glacial till is by far the most common 5/8th crushed rock that is sold for pathways and driveways. A lot of our competitors sell a cheaper version of this that has a lot of sand and dirt in it. While a true 5/8th minus has the smaller particles in it there should not be an over abundance of sand and dirt. The sand and dirt will allow for quicker growth of weeds. There is also some concern from some, with good reason, that bringing in too many fines will create a planting medium that incourage weeds to grow. If you want to stay away from fines altogether then you may want to consider our 5/8th crushed clean (listed farther below). It is made up of fractured pieces of rock at 5/8th of an inch on down to about 1/4 inch.

5/8th Minus Crushed Dark Gray Basalt:

This is a nice darker color that looks like asphalt when wet. It will have more fines in it then the regular or standard glacial till that is so common but this stuff packs almost as hard as concrete. We have a lot of satisfied customers with this one. The color will vary from time to time on how dark this rock is but it usually is on the darker side then not. It will appear lighter when its hot and dry out. This rock tends to be more expensive then the regular 5/8th.

5/8th Clean Crushed. Also Called 5/8th Clear or Type 22:

This is a crushed rock with no fines except for a few that might have been stuck in the truck bed from a previous delivery. This rock can also be used as a drain rock. This is the rock that many local inspectors call type 22. This rock will cost more then the regular 5/8th crushed or Home Owners Crushed because this rock is processed more. First it is crushed and screened and then screened again.

Crushed Concrete 5/8th Minus:

While this is a cheaper material to use then the standard 5/8th crushed rock it is not a good replacement for pathways and driveways. We have lots of compeditors who try to convince homeowners that this is a good replacement for gravel for the driveway but to most who see it the look is not very desirable. It will often have little bits of red brick and slivers of form boards all through out it. Even little piece of asphalt will show up here and there. This is a good material to use for large parking lots at storage centers and other locations where the overall look is not to be taken into consideration. It can make good base material for concrete work but you might consider actual crushed rock if needing to lay a crushed base in an area that has lots of moisture running throught it Generially a 10 to 12 yard load to the local Issaquah area will be 448.50..

1 1/4 Inch Minus Crushed:

This is just like the standard 5/8th minus crushed except it has larger particles up to 1 1/4 inch in size. This is way too coarse to be used for pathways that would be walk on though it makes a great base for a pathway or driveway if you have lots of mud and muck to work with. If this is the case, you may find it neccesary at some point to put a final layer of 5/8th crushed rock on the top to make the surface less rocky. If the area being worked is really muddy and you plan on driving over it with cars or trucks then you may need to use crushed rock that is 2 to 4 inches in size and then cover it with a smaller crushed rock. The 1 1/4 inch crushed tends to be about the same price as the standard 5/8th minus. The 1 1/4 crushed rock minus will have lots of fines (or binders) just like the 5/8th minus, but our source will have less of the dirts and sands that will be present in some of the rock sources of our compeditors. This rock is also available in a clean that does not have the fines in it. It is very simular to rail road ballast.

Dark Gray 1 1/4 inch crushed Basalt:

This is just like the standard 1 1/4 crushed minus crushed listed above except it is made from crushed basalt that is darker in color. Another benefit to the crushed basalt is that it is made up of all fractured and broken pieces of basalt rock. The standard 1 1/4 (as well as standard 5/8th) is made up of crushed cobble rock. The cobble rock is cheaper and easier to get at then the basalt rock. The cobbles are dug up, screened and crushed where the basalt is blasted out of solid rock with high explosives. The crushed rock made from cobbles will have pieces with rounded edges as well as some actual smaller cobble pieces that survived the crusher. There is nothing wrong with the rounded parts and pieces except if you plan on using it on a steep gravel driveway. Car wheels will spin easily over the round pieces creating pot holes and displacement of rock. Like the standard 1 1/4 inch crushed, this is way too coarse to be used for pathways that would be walked on though it makes a great base for a pathway or driveway, especially if you have lots of mud and muck to work with.

Crushed Concrete 1 1/4 Minus:

This is a crushed concrete product that is a cheaper alternitive to actual crushed 1 1/4 crushed rock. It is not recommended to use in areas where high concentrations of water are passing through. Makes a great back fill too.

Crushed Asphalt 1 1/4 Inch Minus:

This is even less expensive then the crushed concrete. It will usually have a lot of brick in it as well. It can make a great back fill as well.

3/8th Minus Crushed:

This is a crushed rock that is 3/8th of an inch on down to dust and is a better choice for walk ways and driveways if you like a smoother surface look to your gravel. As far as walkways it is easier to walk on then the 5/8th minus. It may still be hard to walk on bare foot but it is still an improvement over the 5/8th minus. The source of this product comes from glacial till so the color will tend to be a mix of all kinds of rock giving it an overall appearance of light to dark grey. You will need to email or call to see if we still have this product in stock or near you.

3/8th Chip Rock:

This is just like the 3/8th minus except without all the fines. The source is from a lime stone quarry making the rock on the lighter grey in color with a slight hint of green or blue in it. The cost is going to be more then the 5/8th minus. This product is often used for top dressing existing pathways and driveways that have already using a 3/8th minus crushed. Some landscapers use this as a drainage material for the soil by mixing it in though its rare when we get a request of that purpose for it.

1/4 Inch to Dust Crushed Rock:

This is a really fine crushed rock that is 1/4 of an inch on down to dust. You can even walk on it bare foot without too much foot pain that you would get from larger crushed rock pathways. It’s also very popular by landscape contractors for use as a base for paver block walkways and driveways. It has all kinds of uses. There are many who use it for a driveway as well but they have a base layer underneath it of 5/8th minus or bigger. The 1/4 to dust we have is light grey in color with just a hint of green or blue. Color will vary from time to time. This product will be more expensive than the 5/8th minus. This is not always easy to find for most delivery services but we usually have it on hand. Call and verify that we have in stock before placing order.

3 Inch Minus Crushed Fill:

This is a dark grey to black crushed basalt rock that is approx 3 inches in size down to dust. It makes a great base for driveways and other areas that muck up. Its less expensive then 5/8th minus and the 1 1/4 inch minus. People use it to park large trucks on or to even park large steel containers on it. It is a favorite of many contractors and home owners alike.

2 to 4 Inch Quarry Rock:

This is a crushed and fractured basalt rock that is approx 2 inches up to 4 inches in size. This is a great rock for using in muck control and will still allow good drainage for the water to pass through. It can be used for Gabians. In fact, this is sometimes called Gabion Rock. Gabians are the large steel cages full of rock being used for retaining walls. Though they have been around for centuries gabians have only started to get popular in use in the North West in the last 20 years or so. This rock is availble in darker grey.

4 to 8 inch Rockery Rock:

What is this rock used for? This is a broken and fracture basalt rock that is approx. 4 inches up to 8 inches in size. This is not a washed product and there will be dirt’s and rock pieces a little smaller than 4 inches and pieces that are bigger than 8 inches. It is great to use for making smaller rock walls that are 2 feet or less. It is also excellent for muck control of situations of extreme moisture.
Colors Available: Color should not matter if you’re using this rock for stabilizing driveways, roads and other construction projects. But if using this rock for small rock walls and borders then available color may interest you. This rock is available in two shades. One is made of lime stone and is lighter in color. It will vary from light gray to subtle hues of green (the lighter one is shown being used for a wall in picture above). Some of the pieces will actually be white like a quartzite. The other available color is darker gray. The prices between the two types of rock are different and will greatly depend on where it’s being delivered to.
